Simply Keto App - What is Keto?

A ketogenic diet has many benefits for your health: you'll prevent aging, stay fit longer, rev up your metabolism, and drop the pounds. The ketogenic diet is a way of eating, that reduces the intake of carbohydrates and increases the intake of healthy fat.

Another and now already more widely used name for the Ketogenic diet is the LCHF diet. Here, the LCHF stands for Low Carb High Fat, which translates to "low carbs, high fat". It should be noted that you are talking about healthy fats, and you should choose foods that have a naturally high fat content.

In simpler terms, carbohydrate intake is minimized, usually to ≈ 20g per day. These carbohydrates are consumed primarily in the form of fresh low-carbohydrate vegetables and fresh berries. When the body has fewer carbohydrates available, it must turn to its fat stores for energy. It converts them in the liver to so-called ketones, which then meet its needs. Similar to a fasting cure, the body is stimulated to break down fat. In addition to the carbohydrates just mentioned, protein is consumed in moderate amounts. To ensure the daily energy intake, the remaining calories are supplied by natural and healthy fats, with focus on unprocessed foods that have a naturally high fat content.

Important in the ketogenic diet: You eat only natural foods that are of high quality and, if possible, are organically grown, come from species-appropriate animal husbandry and have an organic quality.

Significant for the basic understanding here is that carbohydrates do not provide essential nutrients for the body. Essential fatty acids (fat) and essential amino acids (protein) are quite different. This means that the body turns to fat and protein when carbohydrates are no longer being consumed. Fat and protein, which are consumed via caloric requirements, can be used by the body to produce energy. Carbohydrates, on the other hand, which are consumed above the daily calorie requirement, are always stored as fat. And that's exactly how those pesky love handles are created, which are so hard to get rid of.

According to studies, this diet has helped people with type 2 diabetes achieve better insulin balance. The keto diet can also help with heart disease, Cholesterol levels and blood pressure issues. Many people report that they found it easier to concentrate once the adaption period was over. General performance can also increase, both physically and mentally. If you have kidney or intestinal disease, consult with a doctor if you are interested in the keto diet. This is because ketosis may cause the kidneys to have extra work to do, which can lead to symptoms if ill.
