About License to Sail

License to Sail is an application that prepares you for the USCG License Exams.

What sets License to Sail apart from the other test prep sites or apps?
First of all, License to Sail is built to be mobile. Other test prep models are websites from the 2000s and USB 2.0 Thumb-drives. License to Sail is with you everywhere, online or offline, and runs on the best platforms: iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Running strictly on Apple’s platforms gives you the best studying experience. Last of all, License to Sail is made in America by a US Merchant Mariner for US Merchant Mariners. Don’t settle for any offshore copy cats, this app is where you want to be.

How does it work?
License to Sail runs like its predecessor apps Engine License and Deck License with more features. You first pick your department and which license exam you’re studying for. The app will then narrow down what you need to study, no BS. There are four tabs: Info, Plan, Study and Store. Info gives you a summary of your progress and any announcements. Plan is a hidden tab that shows once you setup and know your testing dates. It gives you a suggested timeline of where you should be in the coming weeks and how many questions you need to know per day. Study is where you will be most of the time. You select your subject and sub subject you wan’t to study and go through the 4 key modes…

Study Bank
This mode gives you access to all questions to study. You can set it to show the answer and flip through questions to memorize. Bookmark your progress and come back later. Study by category or illustration too such as all of the math problems. Each category can be tested too. If you absolutely know the question and don't want to see it again, you can set that you know the question and not see it in Review or Elimination.

Elimination
This mode is works by the process of elimination. If you answer the question right, then you know the question. If you answer wrong, then that will be set aside to go over later. Once you’ve gone through all of the question bank, then you will go back over and over missed questions till you get those right.

Review
The button to the right of Elimination you can view missed in Elimination mode so you can go back and look at them without having to wait for them to surface back in Elimination mode.

Test
This mode is where you generate random tests or pick past example tests to test over. This should be used after you’ve studied everything. Swipe left and you can generate test PDFs to print for practice.

The Store tab allows you to purchase subjects however you'd like. Buy them one buy one or in bundles and keep for the lifespan of the app. Subscriptions may be purchased as well.*

All questions were pulled from NMC sample tests. L2S is not affiliated with the US Coast Guard.
