The World Freight Group was formed in April 1992 in Singapore by 11 freight forwarders. Over the years membership has grown dramatically and now extends to over 500 air and sea ports globally.
Each privately owned and managed member represents exclusively a designated area or marketplace and has multimodal capacity. To qualify for membership, a company must go through a strict process to ensure that they meet rigorous pre-qualification standards in skills, capabilities and professionalism.
Our concept of forming partnerships on a worldwide scale has enabled highly successful companies to work together, making the WFG one of the world's leading groups in the growing industry of intermodal transportation providing clients with the benefits of personal service and high technology communication.
The WFG is managed democratically by a Board of Six Directors, each of whom is a Senior Principal of a member company. The WFG Board of Directors meet twice a year, donating their time voluntarily for the development of the Group.
The daily management of the WFG and the organisation of the Annual Conference are handled by the staff at the Head Office, based in the UK. The funding of the Head Office is by Annual Fees and Membership Fees. The staff at the Head Office are responsible to the Board of Directors and are not Board members.
