About Peace and Loyalty Lodge 261

WBro Arthur Baker was one of the 10 foundation members when the Lodge was consecrated on Saturday, 22nd May 1920, ceremony held in the Shire Hall Ferntree Gully by the MW Grand Master, FT Hickford.

None-today can remember those first few foundation members who had a vision of establishing a Lodge in the foothills of the Dandenong’s and worked diligently over those early years to insure those past great tradition of our fraternity survived.

Try and envisage the conditions in 1920, the 1st world war just ended, the country recovering from this, and still, AH Baker and those other nine foundation members achieved their goal and formed the Peace and Loyalty Lodge No 261.

The uninitiated on entering the building of todays 261 may not consider it a very substantial structure, those members who look not with their eyes but perceive with their hearts and souls, can be assured a Freemasons Lodge is not simply about bricks & mortar.
