Le Tour de Langkawi is a multiple-stage bicycle race held in Malaysia conceived by Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir, with the objective of placing Malaysia on the world sporting and tourism map. Held since 1996, the race usually begins in Langkawi and includes major landmarks such as Genting Highlands and Dataran Merdeka. The race is now sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a ProSeries under UCI three-tier race structure and is among the biggest races in Asia. The race regularly attracts top teams from across the globe as well as national teams from a number of European and Asian countries. LTdL 2020, slated to run from 7-14 February, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year since its inaugural 2.6-ranked race was held in 1996.
