About Defense Recorder

Defense Recorder is a paid subscription app, costing $3.99 per month, that serves as a witness on your phone. It records background audio that can be replayed, saved, and used as evidence after an incident. This app can be useful in a variety of scenarios, such as self defense, enforcing your rights, verbal agreements, replaying a conversation, and remembering someone's name or phone number, among other things.

With Defense Recorder, you no longer have to worry about documenting an incident or pulling out your phone in the middle of a confrontation to take a video. Once you hit “record” we gather the audio evidence of the event. This app is particularly effective if you are vocal during an incident. If there is minimal communication during an incident, the app may be of little help.

Here's how it works: Defense Recorder constantly records and saves audio from your phone's microphone. All you have to do is sign up for our monthly subscription, customize the recording parameters to best fit your needs, and hit the "start recording" button. The app will constantly record background audio until you hit the "end recording" button. Each clip is held in your device's internal storage until it needs to be deleted to make space for the newest clip. These recordings can be replayed, saved, shared, and even used as evidence for a legal defense. Please note that you must save or "lock" a file in the app before it is automatically deleted, as we cannot recover it once it is deleted.

Defense Recorder is legal to use in all single-party consent states, which is the federal regulation. This means that as long as there isn't a reasonable expectation of privacy and you are participating in the conversation, you can legally record the conversation. However, the exact regulations vary by state, so we recommend that you conduct your own research of the recording consent laws in your specific area. We will not accept liability for any misinterpretations of the laws. And you should always ask for consent before recording.

• Our app requires the following permissions: microphone, storage, and app subscription services. You can choose how much memory is used to store recordings. The longer you want to hold recordings, the more storage you will need to dedicate.

• To use Defense Recorder services, you must purchase our auto-renewing subscription for $3.99 per month, through an In-App subscription Purchase. Defense Recorder requires a paid subscription to use our services. This subscription will enable customizable recording lengths and a customizable number of stored recording files, before the oldest file is auto deleted to make space for the newest one.

• Without the $3.99 per month subscription, you will not be able to record audio with this app.

• Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Accounts will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the selected plan. Subscriptions and auto-renewal may be managed by going to Account Settings after purchase.

• Please note that Defense Recorder does not record anything that is played from your device, such as phone calls or music. We only record what your device hears.

• You should always get consent before recording any audio.
