Long Lapse (or Long Time Lapse) is an application that allows you to create very long time-lapse videos with customizable settings, with the ability to use flash, which is very convenient when shooting plant growth.
The application allows you to access each frame until the end of shooting, and when the function of uploading photos to iCloud is enabled, these frames can be accessed from another device under your Apple ID.
Once you're done shooting, you can assemble all those frames into a video. Thus, in addition to the video shot by the application, you can get all the frames and use them in third-party video editors such as FCPX.
Functions and features of the application:
- The time interval between shots can be set from 1 second to 24 hours.
- Select any camera available in the device: wide, ultra-wide and telephoto.
- During shooting, the camera is activated for the minimum possible time required to take the picture. Most of the time, the device's camera is not active, which helps to avoid excessive power consumption and heating of the device.
- Ability to use flash. The flash will only fire when the picture is taken. This prevents increased energy consumption, and also allows you to create the most natural shooting conditions and not interfere with excess light. In this case, the flash will be activated while configuring the camera settings.
- Ability to use advanced camera options.
◦ Focal length—Set the fixed focus manually.
◦ ISO - Set the camera's sensitivity to light to a fixed value.
◦ Hold Time - Set a fixed hold time.
◦ EV - Set the exposure to a fixed value.
◦ POI - set a point of interest for which unfixed parameters will be selected automatically.
- Automatic selection of camera parameters for the selected point with subsequent fixation of all parameters for the entire period of shooting.
- Notification before shooting about a possible shutter sound when shooting and the need to turn it off. The display of this notification can be disabled.
- Saving shooting parameters. The application will remember all the set camera parameters, and the next time you restart the application, all parameters such as focus, exposure, point of interest, time interval will be restored. In the settings, you can choose which camera settings the application will save.
- Dark mode. Allows you to dim the screen of the device during shooting, thus eliminating the extra light that can interfere.
- Dark mode from dusk to dawn. The ability to automatically activate the dark mode only at night.
- The ability to access all the frames taken, right during the shooting, without interrupting the process (if the function of uploading photos to iCloud is enabled). Thanks to this, you can create videos in third-party video editors on other devices without interrupting the current shooting. It also allows you to see the result right during the shooting.
- During shooting, you can see the remaining time before shooting the next frame, the total shooting time and the duration of the video that can be collected from the captured frames at standard video assembly settings, as well as the total number of frames already taken. In addition, the previous three frames are displayed. The time remaining until the next frame is taken is also displayed in dark mode.
- When the shooting is completed, you can leave all the created frames in the gallery, or combine them into a video. It is also possible to delete all footage during the last shooting.
- Detailed recommendations for shooting time-lapse of various processes in different conditions.
Editing:
- Ability to create multiple videos with different settings.
- Ability to remove the background and trim the frame, placing a timestamp on the video.
In the next updates, many new functions for processing the finished result will be added.
