Harikyu Museum – Museum of Traditional Medicine celebrates a collection of historical materials of traditional medicine including acupuncture, moxibustion, Judo-seifuku (Judo-therapy), and Chinese herbal medicine. The exhibits providing a clear overview of the medical history of Japan.
In the middle of the sixth century, acupuncture, moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine, which are said to have been introduced to Japan from China through Korea, underwent unique developments in Japan and have been handed down through the generation still today. Judo-therapy is a traditional system of therapeutic technique rooted in jiu-jitsu (Judo arts) of the Edo period.
