Epic games now owns it and it shows
I saw this game pop back up and remembered playing it 10-15 years ago, and I loved it. I was ecstatic when I saw it rereleased, only to feel so neutral about playing it after a day. Only way to get pods are not even through purchasing them in the in game store, but going to the EPIC GAMES WEBSITE?! Then it all made sense why the progression was extremely limited, with limits to even things like land expansion, and each expansion getting longer and longer. INSANELY reduced resource production rates between normal and advanced buildings. You can’t even build certain resource buildings until much later on in the game based upon player level, yet you need a lot of the resources you don’t have access to the buildings for, making you have to buy with pods, which the only way to get pods is through either leveling up super slow, or, you guessed it, buying pods through the epic games store. So what was an amazingly paced and set up game is now a micro transaction haven, just like how all the other games nowadays are set up, riding on the band wagon of nostalgia instead of remastering the game for what made it so amazing back in the day.
