About OLP-PLO

Learn, improve, or enrich your French or English skills & boost your confidence through government-funded programs, which include classes, activities, and cultural experiences in Canada.

Which of the Official Languages Programs (OLP-PLO) is right for you?

EXPLORE: A program for students who are looking to learn or improve their French or their English through cultural, social, and travel experiences. Sessions are available in either spring or summer. Tuition fees, instructional materials, meals and lodging, workshops and cultural activities are covered by the program.

DESTINATION CLIC: A summer program tailored to help francophone students outside Quebec nurture their sense of belonging and identity with the francophone community, as well as enhance their French-speaking skills. Tuition fees, instructional materials, meals and lodging, workshops and cultural activities are covered by the program.

ODYSSEY: This nine-month program offers paid work placements in schools as language assistants, allowing participants the opportunity to gain work experience and practice their English or French speaking skills. Salary, travel allowances, and training sessions are provided by the program.

By participating in the Official Languages Programs, you will have the opportunity to:

• Travel and experience life in a different part of Canada
• Receive funding for language learning or a salary for a work placement
• Practice your French- or English-language skills
• Immerse yourself in a vibrant culture and community
• Meet new people and make new friends from all over Canada
• Develop new personal or professional skills
• Boost your self-confidence

And you’ll experience all of this while strengthening your first or second official language, or helping Canadian youth practice theirs. For some, the OLP-PLO experience is life-changing!

Official Languages Programs are funded and endorsed by the Government of Canada, administered by provinces and territories, and coordinated at the pan-Canadian level by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC).
