About goALS Caregivers App

The goALS app helps caregivers of patients suffering from ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease or MND / Motor Neuron Disease).

Caregivers can learn more about ALS, take a quiz, update and privately share patient-specific information, and access communities - including an in-built private patient circle.

The app has three main sections: vitALS, tribALS, verbALS

REGISTRATION and SETUP
Registration is free, and simply needs an email ID
A primary caregiver (like someone in the family of the patient) can set up the account first, and then update basic information about the patient
They are able to add as many secondary caregivers as needed who would be providing care to the patient
The primary caregiver controls who else, as secondary caregivers, should be allowed on the app as their patient’s caregivers. This can be done in simple quick steps in Settings

vitALS
Patient Vital Information: Update and share vital information about the patient, like basic demographics, stage of ALS, and degree of symptoms present (including speech, hand strength/control, muscle twitches, feeding, movement, etc.)
Patient Daily Checklist: Update and share this checklist, which can include sleep patterns, bathroom routines, physiotherapy, diet, medication, etc.
Patient Calendar: Update and share the patient’s calendar including appointments like physiotherapy sessions, doctor’s visits, haircuts, etc.

Learn more about ALS: Curated links to sources of information on ALS
ALS Quiz: Take this quiz to test your knowledge about ALS, and in the process learn more about the disease

tribALS
Individual Messaging: Send private 1-on-1 message to any caregiver within your patient’s circle
Circle Messaging: A private chat room for all caregivers of a patient, for quick and efficient communication about patient care with everyone within a patient’s circle of caregivers
Public Messaging: There is so much to be learnt from other ALS patients and their caregivers. Find links here to public ALS communities where you can communicate and interact

verbALS
Curated links to resources and avenues for better communication with ALS patients, especially once speech issues become severe
