Digital technologies enable innovative care and treatment concepts for outpatient medical care. With docdirekt , the Baden-Württemberg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVBW) is the first Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians to launch a telemedicine project. This offers patients quality-assured telemedical access to medical care.
docdirekt became possible after a change in the professional regulations by the State Medical Association (LÄK) of Baden-Württemberg. She thus paved the way for the decision of the German Medical Association, which in 2018 lifted the ban on remote treatment that had been in force up to that point. Since then, doctors have been allowed to treat patients by phone or video without first contacting them in person.
The docdirekt model project was initially limited to the city of Stuttgart and the district of Tuttlingen. After a successful test phase, the resident doctors have now expanded their offer to the entire federal state of Baden-Württemberg.
The KVBW is responsible for organizing outpatient medical care in the state. It represents the approximately 23,000 resident doctors and psychotherapists in Baden-Württemberg.
