About Organized Homes

Moving isn’t a one day event, it stretches across weeks, months and beyond. Reduce your stress with Organized.Homes!

Pre-move, document the items that you’re donating. Take pictures, set the value and record the charity so your tax documentation is on-hand come tax time. As your realtor starts to stage your house for sale, document the items you’re putting into storage so nothing is misplaced.

The move is on and it’s time to pack. This is a great time to create your home inventory. Add boxes by room, mark them your way, from a sharpie scribble to bar coded labels, or a mix of both. As you add items, record whatever level of detail you want, from a title to a complete profile including value and pictures. Using commercial movers? Take pictures of items and boxes to record their pre-move condition in the event anything is damaged in the process. Add a destination to each box to simplify the unloading effort.

If this is a work related move, document your expenses and take pictures of the receipts to simplify the reimbursement process or for tax purposes.

Unloading is hectic and misplacing boxes is common. Use the destination you added when packing to easily quarterback where boxes should be placed. Those critical boxes won’t end up in storage when you need them most! Have damaged items? The before and after pictures really help in making your claim. Need that one item you know you have but can’t find? Track the item to the box and box to the room to easily find that must have item.

Unpack boxes and your new home inventory is almost complete. Add categories and values to help you right-size your new insurance policy. Track improvement costs as you improve your new home and simplify your tax documentation years from now when you move all over again.
