manyactive app helps you live an active, healthier, and fun lifestyle.
The app helps you live an active, healthier, and fun lifestyle with two key features:
1. CHALLENGE
The first feature is called Challenge, which was developed in collaboration with behavioral scientists and trainers. You create a challenge and set the goal to be achieved for someone to achieve the challenge and outline what price the winner will get. The challenge activity goal is a motivation for friends to compete against each other but also the visibility of one’s activity to their friends would nudge someone to stay active and as a result, one would passively improve their health. This, in addition to the ability to use the Challenge Points earned as a currency for wellness services and products makes the whole experience more fun and rewarding.
2. MOOD
The second feature is Mood, developed with inputs from leading mental health therapists in the region and abroad to make mental health care more accessible to individuals. manyactive is the first platform to marry fitness and mental health to bring the relationship between mind and body mainstream as one is able to monitor how their level of activeness correlates with how one feels throughout the day.
Manyactive’s visibility works through a leaderboard feature that has real-time scores of steps that all participants in the challenge have earned from the start date. The person with the highest score will be at the top of the leaderboard followed sequentially by the runners-up.
EARN CHALLENGE POINTS
Users earn one Challenge Point for each 1000 steps made in a challenge from any physical activity. We consider physical activity to be any bodily movement that results in energy expenditure, and its structure be it walking to the dispenser to get your water, walking down the stairs to grab your lunch or running after a kid across the room.
KEEP TRACK OF YOUR FITNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH
manyactive marries fitness with mental health, through hourly prompts for one to record how they are feeling at that particular point in time by simply clicking an emoji that most appropriately represents your mood. By doing this throughout the day over a period of time, one is able to recognize their mood pattern and relate them to daily experiences including how their level of activity directly affects their moods. As a result, one is able to manage their emotions better by recognizing and managing triggering events, people, or places for better mental health. For therapists, the ease at which these recorded moods can be accessed by exporting them into a pdf or Excel sheet to be used in therapy sessions cuts down the time it would take to go through physical records of moods for individuals undergoing therapy for mood disorders or other related conditions.
Vast research shows a correlation between one’s level of activity and their mental health. Notably, the 2021 study by Felipe Barreto Schuch and Davy Vancampfort whose findings revealed compelling evidence demonstrating that physical activity and exercise not only alleviate one’s mood or help in the recovery from a mental health episode but can also prevent common mental disorders, such as depression and anxiety disorders.
According to WHO at least 30 minutes of brisk walking which translates to roughly only 3000 steps five days a week is recommended for optimum physical and mental health making staying active an achievable goal by making all your movements count.
manyactive app makes it even easier to stay on top of your mental health by reminding you to record your moods hourly. Plus, you are able to brag about your active lifestyle by sharing your steps, moods, and challenge progress in your Whatsapp status, TikTok, or Twitter in just one click!
