About Bhakti Ganga

His Holiness Shri Datta Swami is a world-renowned Master of divine spiritual knowledge. He is also a retired Professor of Chemistry. By the age of 16, He had authored a 100 philosophical books in Sanskrit and by 19, He earned a doctorate in chemistry. His works in Sanskrit mainly bring unity among the philosophies of Śaṅkara, Rāmānuja and Madhva. Additionally, in past two decades, He has given discourses on a variety of topics in spiritual knowledge. These discourses have been compiled into more than 40 volumes and are being published. His closest disciples believe Him to be complete Incarnation of Lord Dattātreya, who has come down to bring peace in the world. Shri Swami explains — “Every religion says that their God created this entire world. Since there is only one world, there should be one God, who must be impartial to all the children in the universe. The same single Unimaginable God revealed Himself in different human forms, in different places across the world and at different times to preach the same spiritual knowledge in different languages and cultures.…”

Bhakti Ganga (Ganga River of Devotion) is a collection of several devotional songs (Bhajans) on various forms of God, spontaneously composed and sung by Swami. Swami says "Just as the scriptures and satsangs are instrumental for attaining Jnaana yoga, devotional songs (bhajans) are instrumental for attaining devotion or Bhakti yoga. These songs increase the devotion towards God enormously".

The same Swami appeared in the decorations of various forms of God, to show that the same God exists in different incarnations. Unfortunately in the pictures of Gods [or the past human incarnations] such a concept is not obvious. When we see different pictures or images of Gods, they appear quite different from each other and give the psychological impression that the 'Gods' are different. Even in Hinduism, in which the same God is supposed to have taken different forms, this concept is not clearly reflected. The face being the important identity of any person, uniformity in the faces of different incarnations of God is essential. This alone will bring out the true concept. It has not been done with the idea of self-projection or self-advertisement. This is done with the background of the most important concept that all the forms of God, not only in Hinduism but also in other religions, are merely different roles taken up by the same Actor, who is the Universal God.
