Living in the wild is hard. Challenges to wolves include pack dynamics, food supply, diseases & injuries, to mention a few. This past year the wolves in Yellowstone NP were further challenged by a historic flood that affected their territories and revised hunting laws in areas surrounding the Park.

Yellowstone Wolves 2023 provides a snapshot of Packs, Territories & Wolves plus interfaces with Yellowstone SPOTR to relate Packs & Pullouts.
You can choose among the following functions:
- Map - locations of the Packs, which you can select on the map
- Details - main information for selected Pack & Wolves is shown first
Additional specifics can be shown by touching one of the icons at the top right of the screen:
• Interface with Yellowstone SPOTR to see Pullouts where the Pack might be seen
• Wolf Statistics of the app contents
• Search Results Totals, including the Search Criteria that produced the selection
• Pack Summary & Legend
Touch the Details icon at the bottom of the screen to see information for all packs
- Search - criteria to select a specific set of Packs & Wolves in the Details screen
For example, you could search for all collared wolves or all wolves with a specific coat color
- About - explanations, descriptions, legends & contact information

For each of the functions, you can choose to see additional details or statistics.
In addition, Yellowstone SPOTR provides a function in the details for a Pullout. You can choose from a list of installed Yellowstone Wolves apps to show which Packs might be seen from that Pullout.
Wi-Fi access is not needed to use the app.
Mac is added as a supported destination, in addition to iPhone & iPad, in Yellowstone Wolves 2023.
