About PetaNetra: Blind Navigation

PetaNetra is an application that uses Augmented Reality (AR) technology to help blind people navigate independently in indoor public spaces to be more comfortable and independent. This application supports the use of VoiceOver to help convey information to the blind.

PetaNetra can detect your location and will guide you to the destination you choose. In using the application itself, there are 4 types of markers that will be found:

1. Place

This marker functions to indicate the place that will be the user's destination or show the user's standing position. Some examples included in place markers are gates, toilets, counters, etc.

2. Warning

This marker functions to inform users that they need to be more careful when walking. An example is a warning about differences in floor height.

3. Obstacles

This marker functions to inform users that there are obstacles that users need to avoid when walking. Some objects that are obstacles are holes, poles, railings, etc.

4. Action

This marker functions to instruct users to take a certain action according to instructions. Examples of instructions that will be found in the application are “push the door”, “raise your hand to check your body temperature”, etc.
