About Study Latin and Greek - SPQR
Here are just some of the features:
- Full, fast and searchable copy of the Lewis & Short Latin lexicon for Latin students, and the Liddell, Scott & Jones Greek-English lexicon for Greek students, with all definitions searched as you type.
- Parse any Latin word to English, regardless of conjugation - includes full breakdown of the word's form. For Greek students, search in Greek or English, or use betacode if you prefer.
- Full copies of classic Latin texts, including the Gallic War and Civil War by Julius Caesar, Res Gestae by Augustus, the Twelve Caesars by Suetonius, the Amores by Ovid, the poems of Catullus, the Aeneid, Georgicon and Eclogues by Virgil, Pliny the Elder and Younger, the Metamorphoses by Apuleius, five landmark speeches by Cicero (including In Verrem!), plus Horace, Juvenal, Vitruvius and more!
- Full copies of Classical Greek texts, including The Iliad and the Odyssey, Economics, Metaphysics, Politics, and Rhetoric by Aristotle, Laws and The Republic by Plato, The Histories by Herodotus, Agamemnon, Prometheus Bound, and The Eumenides by Aeschylus, Ajax, Antigone, and Electra by Sophocles, plus Aristophanes, Euclid, Euripides, Hesiod and more.
- Most of our texts come with parallel English translations, which means you can be reading Caesar's original Latin description of his battles in Gaul, then tap a button and jump to an English translation exactly where you left off - flip between languages to check your translation as often as you want!
- Students can use the built-in grammar test to check their skill at Latin conjugation; teachers can use the new exam mode to generate tests for classes in seconds.
- When you find a new word, use SPQR's flashcards system to practice your vocabulary as you learn. Alternatively, use one of the many built-in flashcard decks for both Latin and Greek.
- Four Latin-English games are included to build your vocabulary: 7 Latin Words, Latin Hangman, Latin Word Search, and Latin Pairs. Plus, our built-in classics quiz has over 4000 questions on the ancient world to test your knowledge, split across four difficulty levels.
- Full copies of Allen & Greenough's New Latin Grammar, Fabulae Faciles, The Comic Latin Grammar , and Edward Gibbon's epic work The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire.
- Dozens of quotes from ancient Roman and Greek sources, along with English translations.
- PLUS: take advantage of the integrated Roman numeral converter, experience Caesar's Gallic War in word-for-word mode, try your hand at the Sortes Virgilianae, delve into Greek mythology, and more.
SPQR is the app no serious classical student should be without! It's free to try, but you can choose to subscribe for $14.99 annually, renewing every year until cancelled.
Note: SPQR is designed for Latin and Classical/Attic Greek students – the dialect used by Aristophanes, Plato, and more. It is *not* designed for Biblical Greek, which uses the Koine dialect, but if that's something you'd like to see added please email us.

THE scholar’s app
Used SPQR and Greek app for ~15 yrs. 7 Words is worth price of admission. I’ve bugged the developer (sorry, Paul) for AGES to bring 7 Words back. So happy!
