The free Basel Audio Tours app turns a walk through the old town into an audio experience! On five exciting tours, you are accompanied by well-known personalities from Basel's history - they tell their stories with humour, anecdotes and historical depth.
Whether humanist, artist or alchemist - each voice brings a unique perspective on the city, brings historical places to life and invites you to rediscover Basel and its neighbourhoods. In entertaining contributions from their lives, they comment on their surroundings and favourite places and take you on a journey through time.
Basel Audio Tours combines in-depth knowledge with modern technology and enables a new way of experiencing the city - entertaining, interactive and completely flexible in terms of time.
THE TOURS AT A GLANCE
● Erasmus of Rotterdam, the most important humanist of his time, accompanies you to the most historic place in Basel: the cathedral hill.
● Paracelsus, the physician and alchemist, takes you on an energetic tour from Münsterhügel to Spalenhügel, where the Pharmacy Museum awaits you at the end.
● Jean Tinguely, the mischievous inventor of moving art, lets you see Basel through his playful, ironic eyes - from the vibrant centre of the Old Town to the tranquil Spalenhügel.
● Irène Zurkinden, the freedom-loving painter and cosmopolitan, accompanies you on an inspiring walk over the Spalenhügel, past her former studio to the Spalentor.
