Launch issues and communication

I understand there can be problems at launch. I also understand issues handling load. But this app has been offline now for weeks with no communication as to if it will ever return. Just the same unhelpful error message. If this app is not coming back the author has account and credit card data. How is that being handled? How can that data be deleted? And why is there no further communication on this. Problems at launch could have been handled with transparency and communication. The author has done neither. I would not suggest installing this app.

Data breach, crashing, shilling concerns

As a longtime buyer and seller, Snype was the single worst marketplace launch I’ve seen. The app/site crashed repeatedly, “snype” bids were ending auctions early instead of extending them, and within a couple of weeks the entire platform was shut down with every auction canceled and funds refunded.  When your core auction logic doesn’t work and your solution is to pull the plug and run back to eBay, that’s a failure at the most basic technical level.  Much worse than the glitches, though, are the trust issues. Multiple reports in the hobby press and forums describe serious backend vulnerabilities that exposed user information, plus detailed community analyses alleging internal “house” accounts placing tens of thousands of bids and influencing over a thousand auctions.  Hobby outlets and content creators have explicitly linked Snype’s shutdown to a combination of technical failures, a data breach, and shill-bidding allegations, with Probstein himself now confirming that Snype is being wound down indefinitely and that he’s returning to eBay.  Even if some of these problems were the result of “glitches” or outside attacks, the net result for users is the same: a platform that couldn’t keep auctions running, couldn’t safeguard data, and couldn’t maintain basic confidence. I wouldn’t consign or bid there again.
