Important NOTE
Since there is no nationwide cell phone connection in the Bavarian Forest National Park, the app was created for offline mode. Downloading the 3D map leads to an increased amount of data. We therefore recommend downloading one or both parts of the National Park map via WiFi.
National park in 3D
Experience the forest - understand nature - feel the wilderness: Up to 1.4 million visitors a year can now experience the Bavarian Forest National Park anew with a 3D map. The unique landscape with its 500 kilometers of bike or hiking trails is shown as it really is. All important geographical information is integrated into the map. With an exact location function, your own position can be checked at any time. A change between 3D map, topographic map and aerial view is possible at any time.
With this app, Germany's oldest national park can be experienced even deeper: 26 selected excursion destinations, 40 tour tips, from adventure to hiking, cycling or snowshoeing rounds to barrier-free tours. In addition there is lots of exciting information about wild nature, and a webcam that offers a current picture of the national park.
A great function for a tour experience in virtual reality is the "Virtual Panorama": Using this feature you can view a 360 ° panorama from any location, enriched with additional information such as mountain names and heights or points of interest such as e.g. restaurants - try it out!
Current route status
A new tool for the current route status immediately shows the visitor which routes and tours are accessible or where there are closures or restrictions.
Tracking
The tracking tool is new in the app. This allows users to record their own tours. When the function is switched on, your own position, distance covered, duration of the tour and the current altitude are shown precisely. "My tour" can also be used to save photos and store them in a personal tour book. The tracking function facilitates orientation in the national park.
Events
Whether a tour of the world's longest treetop path, a cross-border hike into the Czech national park Šumava or a walk with the ranger - the national park app conveys a fascinating educational program and supports a fantastic adventure experience. This way, the visitor can find out about the offers before their visit and register in good time with the National Park Guide Service.
