About State Statues in the Capitol

This guide to the National Statuary Hall Collection of State Statues describes and illustrates the 100 statues at the U.S. Capitol that are donated by the 50 states to honor people notable in their history.

The statues commemorate Americans from all walks of life and chapters of U.S. history and include founders, statesmen, religious leaders, military heroes, and even royalty.

Thirty-five statues are displayed in National Statuary Hall, which is included in all public tours of the Capitol. The other statues have been placed in other parts of the Capitol, including the Crypt, the Hall of Columns, the Rotunda, and the Capitol Visitor Center.
