The Effective Practitioner Mobile Application is for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals in NHS Scotland to support work based learning. This is to support them to meet the NHS Scotland quality ambitions of person centred, safe and effective care.
The app complements a web based resource: www.effectivepractitioner.nes.scot.nhs.uk and focuses on learning across the four pillars of practice : Clinical Practice; Evidence, Research and Development; Facilitation of Learning; and Leadership.
The app includes:
•a self assessment tool to enable the practitioners to identify areas where they are confident and also areas where there is need for them to develop their knowledge and skills
•around 100 learning activities within the 4 pillars of practice under 18 categories which can be undertaken as part of the practitioners practice - so examples of the learning activities include : from using technology to support patient care; ensuring effective nutritional support; demonstrating accountable practice for protection of the public; promoting health and self management in people with long term condition.
•the ability to record a reflection of the learning using text and audio recording. This can then be saved on the app and emailed for use as part of performance and career development
•links to audio and video files to use multimedia to support learning
