About PoP Churches

The PoP Churches App highlights all of the churches within the bounds of the Presbytery of the Pacific (PoP), a middle governing body of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The Presbytery of the Pacific includes churches within the greater Los Angeles area and the state of Hawaii. The PoP Churches App displays the location of all Presbytery Churches on a map view, allowing the user to quickly locate nearby churches, or any selected church within the Presbytery. The user can also search for churches by name, city, state, and language spoken. Church pins on map views are color coded to indicate the primary language spoken in worship services.

The PoP Churches App provides key information on every Presbytery of the Pacific church, including language spoken, times of worship, the church address, the pastor’s name and photo, a photo of the church, a detailed map of the church’s location, step-by-step directions to the church from the user’s current location, and the ability to phone (on iPhones) and send emails to churches. The PoP Churches App also includes the ability to view church websites, Facebook pages, Twitter pages, Instagram pages, YouTube channels, and PC(U.S.A.) individual church statistics and trends over the past two and four years. Touching the name of most pastors will display their associated PC(USA) Minister Directory information. Links to Live Streaming of worship services are provided for most churches, along with an ability to set calendar events for upcoming worship services.

Additional features include a brief tutorial, local weather information for each church location, English translation of non-English websites, and the ability to insert church contact information into your iOS Contacts App. A Share Sheet is available for sharing selected church information with others. The PoP Churches App supports Slide Over and Split View multitasking on recent iPads, as well as Dark Mode on iPhones and iPads.
