too much/any alternatives?
they made the app and adding word count goals unnecessarily complicated. i hadn't realized it updated between the completion of my last novel & my new project and i find it to be too much. anyone have recs for a different app? logging sessions and looking back over them are just... annoying now.

Wasted My Time
Everything beyond project creation is paywalled. Don’t bother unless you want another subscription.

Unnecessary cost
I really liked the app until I had to pay just to add a session.

Wish I hadn’t updated, new UIX is terrible
I’ve used this app for over 5 years as a full time author to track my projects and have loved it. I just updated to the new interface in the middle of the deadline for my next release and it’s a terrible user experience. The layout is not intuitive, there’s no option for list view of projects or any options to customize your view/metric preference, and the metrics themselves are much more confusing to navigate than the previous design. After loving this app for years this new user interface design is likely to make me stop using this app and look for something else. Really disappointing.

Can we just have one free book and then the others are to be bought?
If you’re just a starting out author (and a young one like myself) you don’t have the money to pay for this. It seems extremely helpful and what not but if we could just have one free book then maybe we can get that book on the market and THEN we will be able to pay for future books when we’re rich and famous. Pleaseeee just one free book???🥺🙏🏻

Legacy User
I have been using this app for years. I finished one book that I self published on Amazon with the help of this app. Now I forgot my email and freaked out when I logged in and nothing was there. I left a sad review. The creator’s responded and with a couple of emails they helped me fix the problem. I am a legacy user, but I want to tell you it is worth it!

Amazing update!
The latest update on the Word Keeper app is absolutely amazing. The developers have given it a total user interface overhaul. It’s intuitive to use and the insight section is phenomenal. I love having all the info at my fingertips for a motivation and to keep myself on track with my work. As a bonus, I recently reached out with a suggestion for something to make tracking my sessions easier, and not only did the development team get back to me right away, they had a release with that feature out in a matter of days!

NOT FREE
I wish there was a way to see which apps have free versions before you download them. :( this one isn’t.

Such a handy little sidekick!
I recently switched over to writing my novel in Pages because I want to focus purely on writing and keep things simple; other apps have a little too much going on that I find distracting. But I wanted to continue tracking my word count as well, so I was looking for a simple app to track words typed and deleted and just keep track of the progress I’m making towards my goal, but this actually gave me more than what I was looking for. The statistics are super cool, and I love being able to write in phases and see how much I’m getting done each time. It’s really cool to see which time of day I’m more productive. The creator is very responsive and got back to me regarding a feature request really quickly. I also love there being a 7-day free trial, so that I can have time to get acquainted with the app before deciding to commit.

Great App but could use more features for tracking
I started using this app back in November and recently started to reuse it again. I really like how I can keep track of the phases in my writing, but I wish there was a way to select which phases actually go into the novel’s word count. Personally I like to keep track of everything I write, including my outline words. Sadly when I have the outline selected and write down my words it adds it to my novel’s word count total. I tried to see if there was a way to toggle it off for the outlining phase since I don’t count those as actual words towards completion, but there wasn’t a proper way to do it. I also noticed there was a “paused” section when I’m updating my session, but I’ve never gotten it to work which is a shame. I really like to keep track of exact time spent writing and normally I’ll write for fifteen minutes, take a ten minute break, then write for another fifteen. I was going to add that time into the “paused” section but it seems like it’s just for show and doesn’t actually work. Overall though I do enjoy this app. It helps keep track of time, the phases of writing (including research, outlining, writing, and editing), and allows you to have several projects going at once with customizable goals for each one. The app is easy to use and it’s quick to add in sessions so you’re not fumbling around on the app for too long just to update your writing. The things I’d like improved upon are probably more just personal issues.
