The prohibition of gold for men was stated explicitly in the Sunnah of the Prophet, as it was narrated on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib - may God be pleased with him - he said: (The Prophet of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, took silk and put it in his right hand, and took gold and put it in his left, then said: These two are forbidden for the males of my nation.)
