The application "Sons do Anllóns" was made by students from IES Eduardo Pondal de Ponteceso.
In the first stage, the students of 1º ESO collected bird songs with the help of the BirNet application. These songs were stored in a database that was started work in the next year.
Already in 2º ESO we continue with the work editing the files and looking for images of Public Domain for our application but already from the Club of Sciences of the IES.
The last phase of the project consisted of assembling the application using Appinventor.
The municipality of Ponteceso is located on the Costa da Morte, specifically at the mouth of the river Anllóns. This ecosystem has a wide variety of birds, both resident and migratory. Among the first are small scribes, colorful birds but due to their small size are easier to hear than to see. As birds of prey or wintering birds we highlight the mascatos or the cercetas, small ducks that reside in the estuary between the months of October and February. All this poultry wealth is not easy to recognize, most birds escape from humans so they are difficult to see up close without good binoculars or a telescope. However, birds tend to be easier to hear. Especially in the early hours of the day and during sunset, the song of the birds stands out in the landscape of our region so our application can be very helpful to try to get closer to their knowledge.
Take care of what is known so we hope that our application can be of interest to protect our environment.
Happy remarks
