About WPSZ eCONNECT
"WPSZ eCONNECT is a specially developed app for patients in the West German Pediatric Study Center (WPSZ) registry. It allows for the simple and efficient collection of important data on quality of life and care throughout the project, while ensuring data protection compliance. As part of the WPSZ registry, the app helps to better understand the impact of therapy on the daily lives of young patients in cases of relapse or treatment-resistant illness, and to tailor future treatments accordingly."
Easy access: The app is downloaded directly to your smartphone at the clinic, with support available from clinic staff. Personal login credentials ensure that only authorized users have access to the questionnaires. The password should be changed after the initial login.
Stay informed about new data collection: The app sends push notifications about upcoming data collections during treatment and follow-up. If the corresponding function is activated, you can also receive SMS messages to inform you about new data collection dates or reminders. The app should not be deleted from your phone until the final data collection date has passed.
What exactly is this about and why is it important?
The questionnaires address the quality of life and care during a relapse ("recurrence," "relapsed") after cancer or tumor treatment, or when the disease has not responded to the therapy as expected ("refractory"). To consider the perspectives of patients and, if applicable, their parents during this challenging phase of illness, we ask, among other things:
* how the patients' quality of life changes during treatment
* what impact a potentially necessary change of hospital has
* to what extent video consultations can facilitate the transition between hospitals
* how the quality of care and the burden are perceived by the parents.
This application is not a certified medical device as defined by the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR). The WPSZ eCONNECT app is designed exclusively for use within the ACCESS research project. It is not intended for commercial or general medical use. It is not intended for emergency care and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
