The arrival of Hernán Cortés to Mesoamerican lands, in 1519, marked the beginning of the encounter and confrontation between two cultures and different ways of conceiving the universe, two peoples with very different physical characteristics, religions and customs. From that encounter a new nation would emerge in which both groups would leave their mark, through a cultural and genetic miscegenation, which had repercussions in many other aspects.
