How can a historical survey instrument such as the Dufour theodolite (bora-
Circle) to a wide audience in an interactive way to be experienced?
For this purpose, a bachelor thesis at the IGEO at the FHNW produced a digital twin of the
original instrument created. The interactive 3D model of the Borda circle can now
be explored in an app using augmented reality (AR).
The camera of the smartphone must be aligned with the flyer or the marker in Geomatik Schweiz 11/2019. The 3D model appears on the display and can be viewed from all directions.
