Street art is art that is made in public places, usually works of art that are made outside the context of traditional art premises. The term began to fame during the explosion of graffiti art in the early 1980s and later applied to similar forms. Tensile graffiti, poster art which is attached or sticker art, and street or sculptural installations are common forms of modern street art.
The terms "urban art", "guerrilla art", "post-graffiti" and "neo-graffiti" are also sometimes used when referring to works of art created in these contexts. Graffiti artwork painted with traditional spray itself sometimes falls into this category, except territorial graffiti or pure vandalism.
