About Sambuus

The typical Somali cuisine was strongly
influenced by both the spicy gastronomy
Arab and refined Italian gastronomy.
There is no food in Somali cuisine
preserved or frozen.
Among the typical dishes we remember: the Sambuus,
dish of Indian origin, known along
the entire east coast of Africa; the sauce al
tomato with various vegetables including okra,
carrots, spinach, sesame oil and chilli;
Basmati rice with meat and fried onion,
chilli and fresh coriander.
The Zighinì is one of the best known dishes of
Somali cuisine, consisting of stew of
beef, chicken, or lamb accompanied by
various vegetables and legumes, everything should be served on
forms of flat bread (Anjeera), which is used
-
as a spoon for eating.
Somali cuisine is characterized by little salt
and many spices, including cumin, turmeric, pepper
black, cinnamon, clove and
cardamom.
