Handball was played in the municipality for the first time in 1969. At that time it was organized by Rælingen Turn. Handball eventually became a popular sport, and with the construction of the Sandbekkhallen it was natural to establish a separate handball club in 1977. On September 24 this year, an application for membership in the Norwegian Sports Federation was sent to Romerike sports circuit with copy to NIF. In December, the letter finally arrived, welcoming the club as a member of the sports association.
