About GOBA
The Grande Oriente da Bahia was founded on January 29, 1990.
In Brazil, Grande Oriente da Bahia is a member of the Masonic Confederation of Brazil and, in the Latin American scenario, it is an active member of the Inter-American Masonic Confederation.
In the 1980s, under the auspices of the Grande Oriente do Rio de Janeiro (Confederated to COMAB), which granted the respective Constitutions, the Messengers of Peace Lodges (founded on March 14, 1988), Sabedoria Triumfante (founded in October 14, 1988) and Column of Harmony (founded September 20, 1989). When it reached the number of Lodges necessary to found a new Obedience, as established by the Eight Principles of Regularity, on January 29, 1990, the Grande Oriente da Bahia was installed. This took place in the presence of delegations from the Grand Orients of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina, with a total of 32 visiting Masons, led by each of their respective Grand Masters: Alberto Silveira Conde, from the Grand Orient of Rio de Janeiro ; Hiroito Torres Lages, from the Grande Oriente de Minas Gerais; and Francisco Vady Nozart Melo, from the Grande Oriente de Santa Catarina, who, at the time, presided over COMAB (Masonic Confederation of Brazil).
