The project "Chamois" - "Wild goat"
Title:
"Strengthening the connectivity of the Balkan Ibex in Northwest Greece (PONT area of interest)"
Purpose:
Ensuring the unimpeded movement and communication of the populations of the Balkan wild goat (Rupicapra rupicapra balcanica) in Northwest Greece, which is also the area of application of the project.
The main actions:
· The determination of the distribution pattern and the ecological corridors that connect the distribution areas of the wild goat populations and the drawing up of an appropriate Management Plan.
· The identification of threats and pressures that negatively affect the use of ecological corridors by wild goats.
· The promotion of cooperation between the involved bodies and citizen groups in the project area, including the Greece-Albania cross-border zone, but also more broadly in the whole of Greece and in the cross-border zones where wild goat populations are endemic.
