WHY USE BARCODE SCANNING SOFTWARE IN YOUR OPERATIONS?
When you integrate a barcode picking software with an inventory management software, you benefit from:
1) Increased efficiency:
As you scan each item in an order, it updates the product’s status in the inventory management software. You can save the time used to enter an item code or update the software manually.
2) Streamlined fulfillment:
Throughout the different steps of a product’s journey from your warehouse to the customer, you can use a simple scan to record them. The inventory management software updates in real time as you track each part of the process.
3) Improved operations:
Barcode picking can also help you move stock from one warehouse to another. A multi-warehouse inventory management solution can update inventory numbers across warehouses with a scan.
Setting up a barcode system can dramatically increase your inventory accuracy. Having barcodes on your items makes them instantly readable to a mobile barcode scanner. It lets your computer do all the heavy lifting for you. While computers aren’t perfect, they are exponentially more accurate than any human ever could be.

BATCH ORDER PICKING
Once a business begins to receive more orders, they might choose a batch picking process, wave picking or pick and pack. The basic batch fulfillment workflow is simple. Instead of starting with one order, a store worker will group similar orders in batches. The time spent traveling throughout the warehouse can make up half of your total order-picking time — or more. By combining orders into a single batch, the time spent walking through the warehouse is greatly diminished.
✔ Wave Picking
Interactive wave combines multiple orders within a wave for “batch picking,” which can significantly reduce the number of trips. Wave picking leads your pickers around the warehouse in the most efficient way possible, by targeting which items to pick next, rather than which orders. Wave picking is usually conducted with a cart, and the scanner will alert the user where to go and tell the user which item to pick. When the items are scanned, the scanner will tell the picker which slot on the cart to put the item in. This process is continued until all the items have been picked.
✔ Pick and Pack
“Pick and Pack” is another popular batch picking process and is a two-stage fulfillment process of picking and then packing (usually with different staff members picking and packing).
SERIAL NUMBER TRACKING
Reduce the inventory complexity compounds when you need to keep tracks of serial numbers. Finale makes it easy to maintain serial number tracking by keeping track of serial numbers from the start (receiving or manufacturing) to shipping. This information is permanently recorded in the system, allowing the company to access the archives later for stock traceability.

Does the job interfacing with the Finale Inventory. UI definitely needs updating though. It is an Android port of a Windows Mobile app, and feels like it. Appearance is very dated, doesn't utilize integrated Android features like tapping text entry fields to automatically open keyboard. But, still functions fine.
