What happened to this app? It used to be decent, but the past 2-3 years went downhill. Did they cut the backend developers?

Since the update it is very difficult to add items to the shopping list, which is the main feature I use. Items don't appear or the list shows "product information not available" for many items. I have to resort to a paper list to make sure I get everything. The mobile pay QR code is always hard to scan and check out employees blame it on the store's poor wifi. I use the app weekly but I'm always frustrated with it.
