Sometimes it can be hard to know what your beloved family member is thinking and feeling. (Perhaps both your human and cat family members.) You have probably noticed that your cat is communicating with you on certain times and new studies are showing you can actually learn many things by truly listen.
Studies have found that depending on the tonality of the meow sound, certain assumptions of a cats' mood can be made. Especially by the character of the pitch and if it's going up or down. This is believed to correspond to a positive and negative mood respectively.
By really paying attention most people can learn to hear differences in the cat sounds and if the pitch is mostly rising or falling. This app is hoping to assist you in the learning process by providing sound examples and to analyze the recordings of your cat.
How to use this app
Press record and make sure only your cat's meowing is heard, if possible. Look at the data screen and you will see a frequency representation of the cat sounds.
When seeing (and hearing) a clear view of a meowing sound, press stop. Wait a short while to see the most probable result of the associated mood, and the detected pitch it is based on. If several meows are captured or if there is obvious pitch outliers, you can use your finger to move the thresholds of the analysis window. This might give you more accurate results. If too few pitch values where found a result cannot be made.
This app is inspired by recent science but is not affiliated with any research groups. It is in no way guaranteeing to report the accurate mood of any individual cat.
You may use it as-is without any warranty. Always treat your pet with love and respect.
