The Tisza, as a symbol of cross-border cooperation, is one of the primary ecotourism destinations both in Hungary and in Serbia. Despite the rich and unique natural and cultural heritage along the river, the potential of water tourism in the Lower Tisza region cannot be exploited today due to outdated and inadequate infrastructure.
Project partners have sound financial, technical capacity, human resources and project experience. They recognized the impediment to tourism and economic development in the region: there should be no single cross-border water tourism destination, while the status and number of ports, stops are below the 21st. century expectations. The aim of the project is to increase the number of visitors and stay in the Lower Tisza region by creating a single water tourism destination based on cross-border cooperation.
Project partners want to create a new tourist product. To this end, new ports will be developed as infrastructure development in Csongrad, Algyő and Óbecs. These facilities include on-site information boards and joint water tour routes, thus creating a complex network of services and water tourism. The common image, the three-language interactive communication tools - website, mobile application, promotional materials - contribute to building a cross-border water tourism brand.
Common and local events (joint Tisza tour, special events) attract tourists, and transfer and networking activities ensure the involvement of service providers. The project respects all the horizontal principles set by the EU and is in line with regional and international tourism development goals, creates synergies with the partner's existing and prospective projects as the basis for future developments.
