The Constitution of the Republic of Chad of 1996 is the fundamental law of Chad from 1996 to 2018. It was adopted in 1996, six years after Idriss Déby came to power. In its latest form, the Constitution consists of a preamble and 16 parts as well as 225 articles. It is replaced by a new constitution promulgated on May 4, 2018.
