Pantera is a heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas formed in 1981. They are one of the pioneers of the groove metal music genre.

Pantera did not become famous until 9 years after being formed with the album Cowboys from Hell. Before that they were a glam rock group that had published 4 albums. These four albums are now no longer outstanding and are not considered an official part of their discography.
