Now that we don't have any paper card, it takes more time to enter anywhere as everybody tries to find their pass in photos or in email. Then while one presents his phone the image of the card starts turning around. iOS wallet doesn't accept simple cards.
Show my pass is the simplest response to this. Add the card from your photos, choose it and it fills the screen, doesn't turn whatever you do. To go back to the menu, just use a long press.
