Pantun is a type of old poetry which is very widely known in Southeast Asia. In Sundanese, rhymes are called paparkan and in Batak, rhymes are known as umpasa. Traditionally, rhymes consist of four lines (or four lines if written), each line consisting of 8-12 syllables, rhyme at the end with a-b-a-b or a-a-a-a pattern ( can't be a-a-b-b or a-b-b-a). Pantun is one of the old forms of poetry. Pantun was originally an oral literature, but now there are also written pantuns. Another feature of a rhyme is that it does not give the name of the composer (anonymous). This is because the distribution of rhymes is done orally.
