About SelEe

The SelEe app is a digital diary in which people with rare diseases can write how they are doing. This app is intended to help in everyday life to keep track of possible episodes, symptoms or other health data.

With the SelEe app, you can record health data regularly in diary entries or irregularly as findings and then evaluate them. You can carry out the evaluations using the built-in PDF function or have your entire data output as a CSV file and then evaluate it. You can also present your data from the app to your doctor. The app is based on a highly modular concept so that it can be tailored precisely to your individual condition. You can use the app for pure documentation or as a research tool. The data you enter will contribute anonymously to research into rare diseases.

The current range of functions of the app includes:

- Collection of regularly occurring data as individually configurable diary entries
- Acquisition of irregularly occurring data as findings
- Export of evaluations as a PDF file
- Export of data as CSV file
- Video tutorials on how to use the app
- Notification function to ensure regular entries

The app was created as part of the SelEe project (Researching Rare Diseases with Citizen Science!), a cooperation between Hof University and Frankfurt University Hospital. In this case, "citizen science" means that the app was designed in cooperation with people who have a rare disease or their relatives. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research until March 2024. You can find more information on this on the website www.selee.de.
