The Police Academy (AKPOL) of the Republic of Indonesia is a higher education institution whose job is to form candidates for Polri officers. AKPOL was founded in 1946 and is located in the city of Semarang, Central Java.
AKPOL's mission is to form National Police officer candidates who are professional, have character, and have good leadership skills in carrying out the duties and functions of the police. Education at AKPOL covers scientific fields related to the police, such as law, police knowledge, investigations, management, criminology, and information technology.
The educational program at AKPOL consists of three stages, namely:
Basic Police Education (Dikdasmen): This stage lasts 12 months and includes military education, police education, and academic education.
Police Education (Dikpol): This stage lasts 9 months and includes learning about investigations, police management, and police tactics.
Officer Development Education (Dikjur): This stage lasts for 12 months and includes a special training program tailored to the needs of each officer based on their position and duties.
After successfully completing the education program at AKPOL, graduates will be appointed as Polri officers with the rank of Second Police Inspector (IPDA) and serve in various positions and units throughout Indonesia.
