No forced ads! The merge system is extremely frustrating at first: merging heroes will randomly merge to the next hero in the shop. You will quickly fill all the slots with heroes you can't merge. The issue is partially fixed once you unlock Shapeshifter hero and Tile + Sell artifacts. But you need to survive a good long frustrating first hour in the game. It's getting better, but I almost uninstall. Hero placement on tiles is random which make support heroes kinda useless most of the time.
