About VilaWatt
In Viladecans we have been selected by the European Union to promote a pioneering project for energy transition from the cities, the Vilawatt, paying special attention to its innovative, participatory and community nature.
As a result, the proposal of the Viladecans Town Council, promoted with the support of other specialized Catalan partners, is funded by the Urban Innovative Actions of the European Union, an initiative that funds innovative projects proposed for cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants and that provide answers to global challenges with solutions never tested before.
The Viladecans project was one of the 18 projects selected among 378 proposals presented at the first call for the initiative. In the field of the energy transition, the projects Paris (France) and Göteborg (Sweden) were also selected.
