In Kouřimsko, there existed in the early Middle Ages, specifically in the 8th - 12th centuries, three fortified areas, which represented the center of power, military, trade and crafts at a time when the Czech state was gradually born. The most important of these fortified settlements in the position of Stará Kouřim was in its time even the largest fortress in Bohemia.
A walk through the Kouřim settlements requires good tires and ideally dry weather.
