The earliest news from the mining am Deister date back to the time of the Thirty Years War. 1637 are above Wennigsen the first time coal have been obtained on Bröhn. The coal production has contributed the latest at the beginning of industrialization in the 19th century significantly to the development of the surrounding towns and the rise of Hannover-Linden into a major industrial center (Hanomag).
