Smartkalea is a smart implementation project to test and validate this model for its expansion to other geographical areas and to turn the city of Donostia into a Smart point of reference.
More specifically, SmartKalea promotes environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, citizen participation and transparency using cutting-edge technology from local technology partners, integrating data into the project's smart platform for monitoring and obtaining indicators.
In 2014 the SmartKalea project began to be implemented in Calle Mayor. The good results of the pilot allowed to continue advancing in the project and to replicate it in the Old Town and in the Altza neighborhood. Finally, in 2020 the city's Avenida del Sancho el Sabio is being added to the project.
